Introduction & Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding legal agreement between you ("User") and slashit.app regarding your use of our website, software, and services ("Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services immediately. These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy.
The Services are for users aged 18 or older, or 13-17 with explicit parental or guardian consent. Services are not for children under 13.
Important Arbitration Notice: These Terms include a mandatory arbitration agreement and a class action waiver. This means disputes will generally be resolved through individual arbitration, and you waive your right to a jury trial or participation in class action lawsuits. Read Section 13 ("Dispute Resolution") carefully.
Modifications to Terms
slashit.app reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes (e.g., via website or email) with at least 14 days' notice before they become effective. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of revised Terms signifies your acceptance. If you disagree, your sole remedy is to stop using the Services and cancel your account.
Privacy & Data Handling
Your privacy is a top priority. Our comprehensive Privacy Policy, incorporated by reference, details our data practices.
Information Collected: We collect Account Information (name, email) , Payment Information (via third-party processors like Stripe, not directly stored by slashit.app) , Voluntary/Support Data (e.g., communications) , and automatically collected Device/Usage Data (IP, device type, features used, cookies).
Shortcut Command Data (Snippets): This is the text or content you create as shortcuts (e.g., "brb" expanding to "be right back"). While we process this, the expanded content ("Variable Content") is processed locally on your device and is generally not stored on slashit.app's servers. We advise against storing sensitive personal information (like passwords, credit card details, PHI) in snippets.
How Information is Used: To provide and improve Services (including using anonymized data for AI/ML development) , manage accounts, communicate, ensure security/fraud prevention, marketing, and legal compliance.
How Information is Shared: With service providers (hosting, payment, analytics, marketing) , for legal reasons , in business transfers , or with your consent. We generate and share anonymized/aggregated data for business purposes. slashit.app does not sell user information to data brokers for monetary gain.
In Connection with Business Transfers: In case of merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, data may be transferred to the acquiring entity, with reasonable user notification.
Compliance: We adhere to major global privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, and PIPEDA, upholding principles like data minimization, purpose limitation, and accountability, and respecting your data rights.
Children's Privacy: We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
Description of Service
slashit.app is a text expansion productivity tool that allows you to create customizable shortcuts ("snippets") that expand into text, commands, or launch applications. It offers features like snippet creation, dynamic content, and cross-platform synchronization. We continuously update the Services, which may include new features or discontinuation of old ones. The Services may integrate with third-party platforms, which are governed by their own terms and policies, and for which slashit.app is not responsible.
Account Registration & Security
To access certain features, you must register and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account, User ID, and password, and for all activities under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. Account login credentials must not be shared with others; sharing may lead to immediate account suspension or termination.
Payment & Subscriptions
Certain Services require a paid subscription ("Paid Service”).
Payment & Renewal: You agree to pay specified monthly or annual fees, typically charged pre-pay. Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current rate unless canceled. You authorize slashit.app (via third-party processors like Stripe) to charge your payment method.
Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription in account settings or by contacting support. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
Refund Policy: For new subscriptions, you are eligible for a full refund if you cancel within seven (7) days of the initial purchase date. To request a refund, contact slashit.app support at support@slashit.app within this period. This policy applies only to initial purchases, not subsequent renewals or partially used periods.
Non-Refundable Payments: Generally, fees for a commenced billing period are non-refundable, and no refunds or credits are given for partially used periods after the initial 7-day refund window.
Pricing Changes: Prices may change with at least 14 days' notice; continued use after a price change means acceptance of the new price. Free trials are subject to specific terms and require cancellation before the trial ends to avoid charges.
User Conduct & Prohibited Uses
You agree to use Services only for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes, complying with all laws and these Terms.
Prohibited activities include:
Intellectual Property Infringement: Violating any IP rights of slashit.app or third parties (e.g., unauthorized copying, reverse engineering).
Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription in account settings or by contacting support. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date.
Legal Violations: Any unlawful use, including export control or privacy law violations.
Harmful/Objectionable Content: Providing dangerous, fraudulent, or harassing material.
Account/System Abuse: Compromising account security, sharing credentials, network security violations (e.g., hacking), running spam, or excessively loading our infrastructure.
Data Scraping/Unauthorized Copying: Automatically or manually scraping data, or copying significant portions of content not owned by you.
Sensitive Data Storage: Attempting to store passwords, credit card info, SSNs, PHI, or similar highly sensitive personal information within snippets or through the Services.
Violation may lead to immediate suspension or termination of your Services.
Intellectual Property Rights
slashit.app and its licensors own all intellectual property in the Services and Content (software, design, text, etc.). You may not use, copy, or exploit slashit.app's IP without permission.
You retain ownership of your User Submissions (snippets, templates). However, you grant slashit.app a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, modify, reproduce, and distribute your User Submissions:
For providing and operating the Services (e.g., storage, sync, backup).
For publicly sharing (if you opt-in to features like public libraries).
For developing and improving slashit.app's AI/ML models and service functionality, using anonymized or aggregated versions.
We respect IP rights. If you believe your copyright is infringed, send a DMCA notice to our Copyright Agent at support@slashit.app with required information. A counter-notice process is available if your content was removed due to mistake.
Third-Party Links & Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services not controlled by slashit.app. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your interactions with third parties are at your own risk, and you should review their terms and policies. slashit.app is not liable for any loss or damage from your dealings with third parties.
Service Modifications & Termination
slashit.app may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice.
Termination by User: You may terminate your account at any time by contacting slashit.app support.
Termination by slashit.app: We may terminate or suspend your access or account at any time, with or without cause (e.g., breach of Terms, unlawful use, prolonged inactivity like six months).
Effects of Termination: Upon termination, any outstanding fees for Paid Services are due. We maintain your User Submissions and data for a limited period (typically 30 days) to facilitate export; after this, data may be permanently deleted without further notice. slashit.app is not liable for data loss due to your failure to export timely. Prepaid fees for the current subscription period are generally non-refundable upon termination, except for the 7-day refund policy for initial purchases.
Survival: Provisions related to payment, IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution survive termination.
Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. slashit.app disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SLASHIT.APP IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (e.g., lost profits, data loss, business interruption) arising from these Terms or your use/inability to use the Services.
SLASHIT.APP'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (I) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00) OR (II) THE TOTAL AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO SLASHIT.APP FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless slashit.app and its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from: your use of the Services; your breach of these Terms; your User Submissions (e.g., IP infringement claims); or your violation of third-party terms.
Dispute Resolution
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: THIS SECTION AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
Informal Resolution: You and slashit.app agree to first attempt to resolve disputes informally for 30 days by sending written notice to [legal email/address].
Binding Arbitration: If unresolved informally, most disputes will be settled by binding arbitration before a single arbitrator under JAMS rules in San Francisco County, California, U.S.A.
Waiver of Jury Trial: By agreeing, you and slashit.app waive any constitutional and statutory rights to a jury trial. Disputes will be decided by an arbitrator, not a judge or jury.
Waiver of Class Action: All claims must be arbitrated or litigated solely on an individual basis, not as a class action or consolidated proceeding.
Exceptions: Arbitration does not apply to claims related to intellectual property rights or those eligible for small claims court.
Opt-Out: You have the right to opt out of this Arbitration Agreement by sending written notice to support@slashit.app within thirty (30) days of your initial acceptance of these Terms.
General Provisions
These Terms, along with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and slashit.app. You may not assign these Terms without slashit.app's written consent; slashit.app may assign them freely. You and slashit.app are independent contractors. If any provision is found invalid, the rest remain in effect. All notices must be in writing. These Terms are governed by the laws of California, U.S.A., and disputes will be heard in San Francisco County, California. The prevailing party in any legal action may recover attorney's fees. Specific notices are provided for California users and regarding US Economic Sanctions compliance.
